• Spectrum News/NY1 officially invited Nina to participate in its televised debate on Tuesday June 9 at 7pm;

• V, formerly known as Eve Ensler, author of ‘The Vagina Monologues’ endorsed Nina in a passionate video;

• The Persistent, the 2026 Webby Award-winning platform, ran a story, “Four Men Are in the Back of a Taxi. Where Are the Women?” which featured Nina;

• NY1/On Stage broadcast a segment featuring Nina’s reflections on the theater district;

• The New York Times published an “unfavorable” piece on one candidate that included multiple “favorable” mentions of Nina.

Nina also pounded the pavement. Highlights include a wonderful house party on the UWS, hosted by Nina’s high school teacher, Franny Taliaferro, and daughter Cassandra… Nina spoke at a Community Forum on HIV prevention at the LGBT Community Center, attended an evening hosted by J Street on Israel and antisemitism, met up with local politicians at a birthday party for Comptroller Mark Levine, spoke to constituents in Hell’s Kitchen, the Straus Houses, and up and down the East and West Sides.

This week we’ll be splitting our time between canvassing local businesses and apartments – and community events, starting with the AIDS Walk NYC 2026. Meanwhile, Nina joined three of the four dudes featured on that infamous NY Magazine cover for a spirited forum on stage at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue. Highlight of the night? Nina wryly commenting, after two of her competitors went after each other, “I’m happy to watch the boys fight.” And a close second, her closing, “I’m a fighter, a scientist and a mom. Washington doesn’t know what’s coming…”

According to polling from last week, we have doubled our share of supporters, and we didn’t spend millions of dollars to get there. With 28% of voters still undecided, this race is wide open.

The worries of voters were consistent across the district: healthcare, affordability, and Trump’s war in Iran. Now we need to get the message out that these are solvable problems with political will. And that is why I am running.

We gained a slew of new endorsements this week – Jim Himes, Congressman from Connecticut; Sommer Omar, Democratic State Committeewoman for Assembly District 66; and political activist, Peter Staley.

And while we are running a grassroots volunteer-driven campaign, we do need your continued financial support. We will need to raise $150K more between now and the primary to boost our social and get the word out about the campaign. It’s a real target, and we can make it if everyone digs deep. And for those of you getting text messages on your phone - they are really from me!

Last week we took to the streets and made our voices heard.

On Wednesday 15 April, there was a candidate #Manel (male only panel). We were not invited to participate because we had not raised $1M – it was just the “broligarchs,” career politicians, and celebrities on stage. So we protested. And our voices were LOUD. It’s 2026. Time to end the boys’ club and a corrupt pay-to-play system.

Instead of being on an exclusive stage, we were out in the community. I’ve spoken to local clergy and housing advocates, visited synagogues and churches, protests and greenmarkets. I’ve listened to thousands of New Yorkers. And when I ask them what’s bothering them most – the answer is nearly unilateral: “I don’t know where to begin.” Health care, housing, the war in Iran – the crisis is existential.

So we are getting to work, directing that anxiety, anger and confusion into purpose. We invite you to join us as we take to the streets. Hand out flyers. Talk to people. See what’s bothering them.
